Curriculum Vitae

I am an associate teaching professor at Florida International University, where I offer courses in multicultural literature, speculative fiction, narrative theory, and popular culture.

I specialize in literary STEM, which focuses on intersections of literature and science--those that manifest in science fiction, and those that enable fiction-science (or, 'fi-sci') pattern mapping.  The objective of my research is to show that fictionality has the rhetorical power to make science more accessible to the public. This research is led by FIU's Science & Fiction Lab, recipient of a 2023 Humanities Initiatives award from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
